Grenadines: Warm Weather Cruising Feb 2013

To escape the cold of winter, I am organising another Caribbean trip for the last 2 weeks of February (16 Feb to 2 Mar), to sail the Grenadines, exploring the chain of islands and beaches, starting at Martinique, see link:

The idea is a 14 day cruise around the islands, visiting the bays and the beaches, sampling 'Painkillers' and many other variants that only the locals brew properly. Overnight mooring will be in bays and in marinas providing a mix of solitude and shore visits.

With three previous trips to the Caribbean, (Grenadines, Antigua and BVI's) the waters are as clear as in the photos, the beaches are fantastic and the temperatures make for pure relaxing.

COSTS


A) BOAT:

- around £600 per person for 14 days using a four-cabin cruiser, and with 6 aboard this means a cabin each and the saloon (a couple will pay less than twice the single rate for use of a double berth)

- based on cheapest available from Latesail divided by 6 NB: this is NOT a commercial event, i.e. is a share of charter costs

- Beneteau Cyclades 43.3 2005

- includes dingy with outboard, linens, towels, end cleaning
- has a large bimini for shade, plus BBQ (hangs off pushpit)
- great value at £40 per day for accommodation, island hopping in the Caribbean, etc.

 


B) FLIGHTS

a)   Air France from London, direct via Orley

OR

b)   BA/Virgin to St Lucia or St Vincent, with a short LIAT transfer

OR

c)   American Airlines via USA


C) OTHER

KITTY: moorings, diesel, water, national parks fees, boat provisions: approx estimate £170 to 200
- this includes on-board meals and booze

OWN COSTS: shore dinners say 7 nights at £25 ? transfers and departure taxes; personal health & travel insurance; contingency of £100..

To make it easy on cash flow, payment can be done in 3 stages: £200 now, £200 end of October and balance end November (note that the cash is committed to the charterer to avoid any risk)

Kitty will be collected at the start of the charter. You can spread the cost of the airfares on your Visa.
