Round the Island Race

One of the largest gatherings of participants in any sport is the the annual Round the Island Race when nearly 2000 yachts of all sizes and classes race anti clockwise around the Isle of Wight, starting and finishing in Cowes.
The plan this year is not to enter the race but to set sail in front of the elite professional yachts. The advantage of this is that we will see these magnificent yachts in action as they overtake us, we should also return to Cowes at a reasonable time to secure a berth and enjoy the party atmosphere and live bands laid on by the organisers.

We will be sailing a spacious comfortable MCA coded 42ft yacht from Haslar Marina, Gosport. We will meet on Thursday evening at about 8pm at the Marina, familiarise ourselves with the yacht and meet our fellow crew. We will enjoy a meal in a local pub. Friday we will enjoy a sail in the Solent preparing for Saturday's big race. Sunday, depending on the condition of the crew, we will enjoy the deserted waters, explore more of the Solent visiting such places as Newtown Creek and Beaulieu River before returning to the marina at about 3.30pm on the Sunday Afternoon.

This event is open to novices and experienced sailors. A great opportunity  to experience the spectacular  scenery the Isle of Wight has to offer.

An event not to be missed.

Cost of trip £ 220.00 Three nights on board and three days sailing.

It is possible  to arrive at the yacht later on Thursday evening or even early Friday  morning.
