Race Warm Up Weekend Round the Island

I have two spaces available on a warm up weekend which is largely made up of crew from my round the island race entry.

This weekend is for us to practice performance tuning the boat and drill sailing manoeuvres. There are 2 of my crew that cannot make this weekend and any Day Skipper+ or equivalent experienced sailors who fancy joining us for the warm up weekend are welcome, you don't need racing experience and you can watch or join in as you feel like.

We will be making best speed round the island on the Saturday and you will need to be comfortable leaving the relative calm of the Solent and be familiar with sailing basics so you can safely and quickly follow instructions. On Sunday we will be further practising manoeuvres or techniques that we identified need work on the Saturday, this is a good time to ask technical questions.

The boat will be available from 7PM on Friday evening for you to stay aboard, or you can arrive on Saturday morning if you can be on the pontoon at 09:30 at the very latest.

The total cost for the weekend is £160, which covers the charter, food aboard and all running costs of the yacht. It does not cover food and drink ashore, where we will be in a local pub Friday and Saturday evening.

The meeting point is the boat, named "Carte Blanche" which is moored at the Britannia charter pontoon in Port Hamble, directions can be found here: http://www.britanniaevents.co.uk/about-us/about-us/
If you get lost or cannot find the boat you can give me a call, or failing that, the guys at Britannia are very helpful.

Please dress appropriately for the weather prevailing that weekend and please also pack lightly in soft bags. We are aiming for speed, but it's not super serious that you need to fit it all in a 10L drybag, just no large suitcases please.

This is not an official training weekend and is offered as usual as a non-commercial shared costs venture, but if you are interested in learning a bit more about sail trim, boat speed and basic tactics then this is what the weekend is about.

As skipper I am responsible for the insurance deposit and will not require any further payment providing you follow all instructions as far as is practicably possible.

While I am responsible for your general health and safety aboard as skipper, it is prudent to investigate personal insurance to cover the risks associated with yacht racing as you see fit.

If you have any questions or would like to confirm your place and send payment then please contact me directly.
