Croatia Discovery, Week 4: Vibrant South

The Vibrant South route takes us from Makarska (placed at the foot of Bikovo mountain, 1762m) to Dubrovnik, the southernmost Dalmatian city. Sailing in the channel between the islands Hvar, Korcula, Mljet and Peljesac peninsula, we are surrounded by forested hills. Their green sooths eye and soul, while the vibrant colours of water and sky inspire to discover what lies ahead. More details can be found here: Croatia Discovery, Week 4: Vibrant South.

This is a non-profit sailing trip, organized yearly for friends and friends of friends... so gather yours and join us! We are open for anyone who is open :)

The Vibrant South route is a part of a bigger trip: The One Dalmatia Discovery, a 7 weeks trip, bookable individually for each week. We discover the diverse Dalmatian coast between the island of Molat and the stronghold city Dubrovnik. This is how the trip looked like previously:

The plan is to start in Biograd, loop north for one week, then sail south for three weeks reaching Dubrovnik and return to the starting point within three weeks time. This allows diversification of routes and thus allows you to discover any face of the Dalmatian coastline!

UPDATE: 08.06.2015:

Dear LSC Group Members. This is an endorsement written by another member of the LSC Group who joined our Week23: Peaceful North route:

"Dear Dominik,

I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed the sailing trip.
The hired car  was cheap and fast and easy to collect from Zadar airport
The bed and breakfast where I stayed on the first night only cost Euros 50 for two people in separate clean rooms with a large bathroom and dining room. The landlady had left an enormous plate of cold meat, salami, cheese and bread and a complimentary bottle of red wine for an evening snack, and cooked us and an enormous savoury omelette for breakfast.

The sightseeing trip to the National park with its dramatic waterfalls and lakes was delightful , the place huge at around five square miles, all bus and river transport by ferry was included in the entrance ticket price of around ten Euros.

When I arrived at the Marina, I was delighted at the offer of a night’s sleep bunk on a boat for no extra charge, although I had arrived a day early. The greeting on my arrival was warm and welcoming. I met most of the crew at a good cheap tavern over the next two evenings

The crew were far more interesting than any other crews I have shared boats with. All were intelligent, articulate, open minded and there to have fun. The fun included singing, playing instruments, doing dingy races and dancing. The Dutch couple who took over the kitchen on our yacht produced the best food I have ever eaten prepared on board a yacht.

The fifty foot yacht was clean, well maintained, spacious, smooth and easy to sail.

Our skipper Nico, did about one hour of theory a day, and although I have been on about many practical over the past fifteen years, , I picked up and understood several technical points I had never fully grasped before.
The practical instruction was relevant, considerate and adapted to the level of each individual crew member.

I have done over twelve sailing trips where I was not skipper and sailed with crew who were strangers to me. This is easily the most enjoyable such trip I have ever experienced. It’s much more fun sailing with an international group than a load of Brits. The crew in our flotilla of two boats originated from Holland, Switzerland, Pakistan, Mongolia, Canada, Greece, Norway, Sweden, Poland, Belgium, Germany, Bello Ruske, and ranged from novices to experienced skippers. I was the only Brit and would recommend this trip to other Brits wanting to have fun, make new acquaintances, improve their sailing theory and practice and hear and (during conversation)  discuss views and intelligent opinions on all aspects of life and discuss such with non Brits for a change.

The weather was pleasantly warm and sunny, we had wind 90% of the time and the water was clean and warm to swim in. We anchored about 1/3 of the time and stayed in clean and cheap marinas the other nights. The one windless day was spent two up, on scooters,  exploring the island, which was exciting and entrancing

I suspect this trip was so enjoyable because the admiral, Dominique, is picky about who he takes.

At around Euros 300 for a week it was a giveaway. My phone number is 020 8542 1490 if any would be sailors want to (briefly) speak to me
