Autumn Sailing Adventures

Hi - I'm arranging a sailing weekend in the Solent on Fri 10th Oct - Sun 12 Oct.

Details: 2010 Bavaria 38 cruising yacht skippered by RYA Yachtmaster Offshore (commercially endorsed). No experience necessary, should be a great opportunity to get out on the water inexpensively and enjoy sailing with other great people from the London Sailing Club (the largest sailing meet-up group in the world!).

Depending on crew and weather we may go round the Isle of Wight, across the channel to France or something a bit less full-on in and around the beautiful Hampshire coastline of the Solent.

The weekend starts by making your way down to Portsmouth/Gosport (trains every half hour from Waterloo - I'll probably be on the 18:00) journey time 1 and 1/2 hours. The aim is to be back at the marina in Gosport by 4pm or so on the Sunday (so as to arrive back in London at a reasonable time). The itinerary will be worked out nearer the time depending on crew, weather conditions and any other factors.

Costs

£110 for the boat plus a share of food and fuel (approx £20).

To confirm I'll need payment in full (when booking).

If for any reason the trip doesn't go ahead you will be refunded anything you have paid. If you cancel without notice you will lose a deposit of 40% but if your place goes to someone on the waiting list you will be refunded in full.

Looking forward to sailing with you.

Checklist of things to bring: 

• Suitcase: Space is limited on the boat so bring soft bags only

• Clothing: warm and waterproof, hat sailing gloves and sunglasses, sun cream

• Bedding: You will need a pillow case and sleeping bag (or duvet and sheets if you prefer); there are pillows on board (you can of course bring your own as well) 

• Towel 

• Shoes: soft non-marking shoes only please (or sailing boots). 

• Food and drink: I will do a big shop before the trip including cereals, eggs and bacon, pasta, chocolate, bread, butter, tea, coffee, water, beer etc. Let me know if there is you can’t eat/live without 

• Health: let me know if you have any health issues! Think of bringing sea-sickness pills if you are affected.

Terms and Conditions

For events arranged via "Meetup" the information below must be read, understood and accepted for all participants: Key details The boat, which is berthed at Haslar Marina in Gosport, is a Bavaria 38 (38ft) sailing boat built in 2010. It has three double cabins with two additional single berths in the main cabin. You should bring a good sleeping bag and pillow case and make sure that you have soft luggage which can be easily stowed on board. The boat is coded for charter each year by the MCA to ensure safety. The skipper has an RYA Yachtmaster offshore qualification with commercial endorsement, but occasionally one of the crew may be "acting skipper" to gain skippering experience. You must make the skipper aware of any health or other issues which he may need to know in order to ensure the safety of all on board. The boat has much safety equipment on board including 10 automatic life-jackets, radio equipment (with GPS positioning), a GPS on-deck chart-plotter and a self-inflating life-raft etc.
