Early Season Regatta - Inshore Yacht Racing

Event: Early Season Regatta - Inshore Yacht Racing.
Date: Friday 26th February 5:30pm - Saturday 27th February 19:00pm
Location: Portsmouth
Limit: 15 Attendees
Cost: £97

Update: We're now entering two boats in this event now

For our first, on water event of 2010, we're offering you the chance to take part in an early season regatta on the Solent. So why not blow away the cobwebs and come and try your hand at inshore yacht racing?

The skipper will be on hand to hone your race skills and although we will be competing against nine other identical yachts, the emphasis will be on having fun. As always with our trips, no prior experience is required, just plenty of enthusiasm! Any racing & spinnaker experience is very welcome though.

The cost for this event is just £97 per person and this includes

The yacht charter
Supper on Friday evening in Portsmouth Harbour Yacht Club
On board overnight accommodation for Friday night
Bacon butties on Saturday morning
Lunch aboard
Race entry fees

If you pull out we'll try to replace you but cannot promise to be able to do this. If the event is cancelled due to bad weather, which has only ever happened once and last time it was rescheduled to a different weekend. Payment details to follow. Important - Payment secures your place.

On Friday we'll meet on the terrace in the Sloe bar in Waterloo Station at 5:30pm or for those not taking the train, at the Marina any time after 7pm. We'll then join the skipper on board, drop off our bags before going the yacht club for supper and drink, later retiring to our boat for a good nights sleep to prepare for the big day.

On Saturday morning we'll collect our bacon butties from the yacht club, and after the Skippers briefing, we'll be out on the water. We'll compete in three races during the day and will return to the marina by 4:30pm for prize giving at the yacht club. Then after a few drinks to celebrate or commiserate our success, we'll head off home.

We will travel by train from Waterloo on Friday at around 6pm, of course you can take later trains if you wish. We do however try to purchase GroupSave tickets whenever possible which allows four to travel for the price of two.
